THE ARTFUL GARDEN

"The Artful Garden" is a metaphor suggesting how we can sow seeds of creative ideas. Gardens start with small seeds, much like ideas and art. They both need to be fed, nurtured and loved in order to thrive. This "garden" is a safe place to be both inspired and inspiring to others. It is a way to share who you are and promote forward movement within your life. A way to realize that you are not alone. Please join our "conversation" any time by posting your thoughts, questions and ideas in the comment section of
"the garden."

Sharing from Liz~
One of the "artful ways" I celebrated the holidays was fooling around with photography to try to get the perfect picture of Bella for our Christmas card. Although using a digital camera has it's drawbacks at times, this is one way in which it is perfect... in order to get a great picture of a toddler you have to take A LOT! Using a digital camera allows you to just keep snapping away without worrying about how much film you are using. Plus you can mess around with the settings on the camera and immediately see the effect they have on your photo. I'm attaching two photos that I like that came out of this experience - one I actually used on our card and the other came in as a close second.

Hey Liz~
I am somewhat new at using my digital camera as well. I was wondering what kinds of settings you find helpful on yours. Often I don't get the look that I was hoping for, although I do love how immediate it is. Laura

Laura-

Every camera is different and although you can read the manual to find out more about what your camera can do, I find the best way is to just start pushing buttons and see what happens. That being said, the manual is helpful with basic functions such as how to switch to black & white or adjust for the light in the room. Have fun exploring!

Thanks Liz~
Since I have NO idea where my manual is, I will fool around with it more. I didn't even know that you could switch it over to black and white! I am sure that it will be a great tool for me once I learn what it can do. I might even look into taking a class, who knows? Thanks again! laura
